Key Responsibilities: - Technical Drawing & Design: Prepare and produce accurate structural drawings (plans, sections, details) in accordance with design specifications using AutoCAD or similar software.
- 3D Modelling & BIM: Support the production of 3D models and Building Information Modelling (BIM) processes, ensuring models are accurate and adhere to project requirements.
- Structural Analysis Support: Collaborate with engineers to interpret structural analysis and provide design solutions for various building structures (e.g., residential, commercial, industrial).
- Coordination & Communication: Work closely with engineers, architects, and other construction professionals to ensure structural designs integrate seamlessly with the overall project.
- Site Visits & Inspections: Conduct site visits to review structural elements on-site, assess progress, and identify any potential issues.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all design calculations, specifications, and reports, ensuring they meet the relevant standards and regulations.
- Compliance: Ensure that all drawings and designs comply with UK building regulations and industry standards and adhere to health and safety requirements.
- Project Support: Assist in preparing design packages for tender submissions and provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, including liaising with contractors and clients.
Skills and Qualifications: - Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a Structural Technician, ideally within a consulting or contractor environment.
- Education: Relevant technical qualification (e.g., HNC, HND, or Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field).
- Software Proficiency: Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar CAD/BIM software. Experience with Tekla or other 3D modelling tools is desirable.
- Knowledge of Regulations: A good understanding of current UK structural design codes and building regulations.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and precision in all aspects of structural design and documentation.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify potential issues and provide practical solutions in a timely manner.
- Team Player: Ability to work within a team, liaise with various stakeholders, and contribute to the success of the project.
- Time Management: Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Desirable Attributes: - Previous experience with site-based projects.
- Knowledge of other engineering software, such as Tekla Structures or structural analysis tools (e.g., STAAD Pro, Tekla Structural Designer).
- Experience working with contractors and other stakeholders in the construction industry.
